Asim Jalilov was born in Baku.
He studied at Azerbaijan State University (1961) and the Moscow Academy of Social Sciences.
He worked as an editor-in-chief at the newspaper "Molodyozh Azerbaydzhana" (1967-1972), at the film studio "Azerbaijanfilm" (1979-1983), and at the newspaper "Bakinsky Rabochiy" (1991-1995).
He is an honored journalist.
