Azer Hajiasgarli (Azer Asgarov) was born in Baku. He studied in the violin class of the 21st Rostropovich Music School (1996-2005), the Faculty of Economics and Management of Production and Service Sectors of the Baku Engineering University (2000–2004), the Faculty of Composition of the Baku Music Academy (2005-2009, class of Khayyam Mirzazadeh, Jeyhun Allahverdiyev), the Master's degree in the Faculty of Composition (2009-2012, class of Aydin Azimov), and in Russia, the Faculty of Sound Direction of the Institute of Advanced Studies of the St. Petersburg Academy of Cinema and Television (2010-2011, GuKiT.S.P).

He worked as a music editor at Space radio (2002-2005), music editor at Baku Slavic University radio (2008), sound director at the recording studio of Azerbaijan Television (2016-2019). He was a sound specialist for the “Audiokitab” project. Since 2018, he has worked as a sound specialist at the Baku Academy of Music.

He attended the courses of film composers Eduard Artemyev, Michael Price and Alla Zagaykevich. He was a participant in the “Envision Sounds” program organized by the Kiev Dovzhenko Center and the British Council (2017), and as a finalist of the program, he was invited to the “Mute Nights” international film festival for composers and musicians (2018). In the final, he wrote music for the 1928 film “Underground” by British director Antony Asquith, which was screened in the cinema hall of the Dovzhenko Center with live instruments. Also, a re-performance with live instruments took place in Baku at the Flame Towers, organized by the British Council Azerbaijan. He participated in master classes on LOLA technologies at the Tallinn Academy of Theatre and Music and the Prague Academy of Music (2018–2019). His work was performed at the Elements FMT festival in Prague (2022). He participated in the Commute audiovisual and electronic music festival in Estonia (2023).

He has produced sound and music for about 50 films. His works include pieces for violin, cello and piano; sonata for violin and piano; “Prayer” for vocals and harp; sonata for wind quintet and vibrophone; sonata for trio (violin, clarinet, tambourine); symphonic poem; concerto for violin and orchestra; “Black Cello” (solo cello); “Honorable Life”; “Untitled” solo cello; 2 pieces for piano (“Gypsy”, “My Delicate Flower”); "Electroman-Suleymani" for violin and electronic voice, etc. He has composed music for the play "Interesting Figure or Mouse Woman" (2016, directed by Vidadi Hasanov).

He is engaged in pedagogical activities at the Baku Music Academy.

He mainly works on film and theater music.

Since 2023, he has been the head of the music department of the Azerbaijan State Academic National Drama Theater.

He also works as a music editor at the Azerbaijani Radio.
