Azer Garyaghdi was born in Baku.
He studied at the Leningrad State Institute of Theater, Music and Cinematography (now the Russian State Institute of Performing Arts) as a television director. For a while he worked as an artist at the “Azerbaijanfilm” film studio.
He currently lives in Moscow.
Painter Azer Garyaghdi is the brother of screenwriter Chingiz Garyaghdi.
