Imran asimov was born in Baku. He studied at the Philology Faculty of Azerbaijan State University and the Higher Scriptwriting Courses in Moscow.

He served as the First Deputy Minister of Cinematography under the Council of Ministers of Azerbaijan, a consultant on dramaturgy at the Azerbaijan Writers' Union (1953-1954), the editor-in-chief of the magazine "Literary Azerbaijan" (1954-1956), and the first secretary of the Board of Directors of the Azerbaijan Writers' Union (1975-1981).

He began his literary career in 1938 as a screenwriter and playwright. He is the author of about 20 novels, short stories, and short stories. The plays "Why Do You Live", "Expand the Circle", "Man Builds a Home", "Dawn on the Caspian Sea", and "Our Life is Short" have been staged. He is the author of the books "On Distant Shores" (1954), "Years Pass" (1968), "French Tapestry (Travel Notes)" (1970), "Italian Mosaic" (1972), etc.

Honored Artist (1960), People's Writer (1979), State Prize Laureate (1980) Imran Gasimov died in 1981 and was buried in the First Alley of Honor.
