Jamal Yusifzadeh (Jamal Baghirov) was born in Lankaran. He studied at the Faculty of History of Azerbaijan State University.

He began his career as a literary worker in the editorial office of the “Leninchi” newspaper in Lankaran. He worked as a history teacher in high school, scientific editor and senior scientific editor in the Azerbaijan Soviet Encyclopedia (1966-1972), literary worker and department head in the theater, cinema and music department of the “Literature and Art” newspaper (1972-1990), deputy editor-in-chief of the literary drama program editorial office at the Television and Radio Broadcasting Company (1991-1998), and editor-in-chief of the “Azerbaijantelefilm” Creative Union.

He began his artistic career as a student. His first poem was published in the “Leninchi” newspaper in Lankaran (1963). The plays “Mountains Are Not Without Backs”, “They Are Running Away”, “Who is Crazy, Who is Smart”, “The Son Who Survived Death Through a Shirt”, “Who Will Win a Lifetime Tomorrow”, etc. were staged.

Honored journalist (2006) Jamal Yusifzadeh passed away in 2017 and was buried in Lankaran.
