Kamil Najafzadeh was born in Lankaran. He studied at the Azim Azimzadeh Art School (1943-1948) and the Film Art Department of the All-Union State Institute of Cinematography (1949-1955). Since 1955, he has been working as a production designer at the “Azerbaijanfilm” film studio. He designed the performances of Huseyn Javid’s “Knyaz” (1964) on the stage of the Azerbaijan National Drama Theater and Samad Vurgun’s “Farhad and Shirin” (1974) on the stage of the Russian Drama Theater. He was a professor at the Azerbaijan University of Culture and Arts and the Azerbaijan Academy of Arts, and successfully combined his creative and pedagogical activities until the end of his life. Honored Art Worker (1976), Chechen-Ingush Honored Art Worker (1964), People's Artist (1987), two-time State Prize laureate (1980, 1985), laureate of the Order of "Glory" Kamil Najafzadeh died in 2011.
Artist Kamil Najafzadeh is the father of director Shamil Najafzadeh.
