Rasim Ojagov was born in Sheki. He studied at the Cinematography Department of the All-Union State Institute of Cinematography (1951-1956, B. Golovnya and L. Kosmatov's workshop) and at the Directing Department of the Azerbaijan State Institute of Arts (1977). Since 1956, he has worked as a Director of photography at the "Azerbaijanfilm" film studio, and since 1973 as a film director. He was the head of the "Ojag" independent studio (1990-2006), vice president of the Azerbaijan Film Directors Guild (1999-2006). Honored Art Worker (1967), Honored Art Worker of Chechen-Ingush (1964), People's Artist (1982), laureate of the State Prizes of Azerbaijan (1980) and the USSR (1981), Rasim Ojagov died in 2006.
