Vasif Adigozalov was born in Baku.

He received his first musical education in the piano class of a music school. He studied composition (1953-1958, Gara Garayev's class) and piano (1959, Simuzar Guliyeva's class) at the Azerbaijan State Conservatory.

He began his career as a music editor at the Azerbaijan State Radio and Television Committee. He worked as editor-in-chief at Azerbaijan Television (1957-1959), teacher (1959-1960) and director (1972-1983) at the Asaf Zeynalli Music Technical School, chief music editor at the Philharmonic (1960-1961), executive secretary (1962-1968) and first secretary (1990-2006) at the Composers' Union, and artistic director of the State Song and Dance Ensemble (1968-1978). He headed the Department of Choral Conducting at the Baku Academy of Music and was awarded the title of professor in 1989.

He composed his first composition at the age of 11. He has 4 symphonic concerts, 4 oratorios - "Odlar Yurdu", "Karabakh Shikastesi", "Çanakkale", "Gem Karvani", 3 symphonies, symphonic poems, and operas.

Vasif Adigozalov, laureate of the State Prize (1991), Honored Artist (1973), People's Artist (1989), "Humay" Prize, "Shohrat" (1997) and "Istiglal" (2005) orders, died in 2006. He was buried in the First Alley of Honor.
