Yaver Rzayev was born in Baku.

He studied at the Theater Directing Department of the Azerbaijan State Institute of Arts (1975-1980), and at the Directing Department of the All-Union State Institute of Cinematography (1985-1990, V. Lisakovich's workshop).

Since 1980, he has been working at the "Azerbaijanfilm" film studio.

He was awarded the "Golden Fairy" award in the nomination "Best Original Screenplay" for the film "Divine Creature" (2015), and in the nomination "Best Directorial Work" for the film "Dance of Good and Evil" (2018).

He is an Honored Artist (2008).
