Yusif Akbarov (Yusif Akbar) was born in Baku.
He studied at the Directing Department of the Azerbaijan State Institute of Arts (1972).
He worked as a production director at the Ganja State Drama Theater (1972-1974), as a production director at the Sumgayit State Drama Theater (1974-1987), as a chief director (1987-1991), as a production director at the Azerbaijan State Musical Comedy Theater (1991-2006), as a chief director (2006-2014).
Yusif Akbarov died in 2016.
