Alim Gasimov

Alim Gasimov was born in the village of Nabur, Shamakhi region (now Gobustan region).
He studied mugham at the Baku Music School named after Asaf Zeynalli (1978–1982) and the Azerbaijan State Institute of Arts (1983–1989). His teachers were mugham singers Hajibaba Huseynov and Aghakhan Abdullayev.
Since 1989, he began performing with the Mansurov brothers - tar player Jamal and kamancha player Elshan. He has performed in many countries.
He was a performer of the music for the Georgian film "Ashiq Garib" (1988, directors Sergey Parajanov, David Abashidze).
He was awarded the International IMC UNESCO Music Prize (1999), the "Golden Plane" international prize of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation (2014). He is a People's Artist (1993), a laureate of the State Prize (2010).
