Ahmad Anatollu (Ahmad Safarov) was born in Baku. He first appeared on stage in 1912 in the play "Gachag Kerem" (Vano Mchedashvili) prepared by Huseyn Arablinski in the theater troupe of the "Safa" cultural and educational society. He played in the "Nijat" troupe, in the performances of the "Zulfugar bey and Uzeyir Hajibeyov brothers' management" theater group. He worked at the Baku Turkish Free Criticism and Propaganda Theater (1922–1925), the Azerbaijan State Drama Theater (1923–1924), the Tbilisi State Turkish Drama Theater (1926-1927), the Azerbaijan State Variety Theater, the Azerbaijan State Opera and Ballet Theater, and the Azerbaijan State Musical Comedy Theater (1939–1949). From 1949 until his retirement, he worked at the Azerbaijan State Philharmonic. He was one of the first artists to work in the genre of national variety theater. "Anatollu" is his stage pseudonym.
