Marahim Farzalibayov

Marahim Farzalibeyov was born in Baku.
He studied at the Directing Department of the Leningrad State Institute of Theater, Music and Cinematography (1970-1975, Georgy Tovstonogov's course).
As a diploma work, he prepared the musical operetta "Hello Dolly" (Michael Stewart, Jevri German) for the performance at the Azerbaijan Musical Comedy Theater. He worked as a student-laboratory technician at the creative photo studio of the Union of Journalists, as an assistant cinematographer at the Surakhani District Culture House, and as the head of the pioneer "Shafag" drama club at the 26th Palace of Culture. In the early 1980s, he directed several performances in the troupe of the Cinema-Actor Theater under the "Azerbaijanfilm" film studio. He worked as a director at the Grozny State Russian Drama Theater by appointment (1975-1977). Later, he worked as the chief director at the Sumgayit State Drama Theater (1977-1981), director at the Academic National Drama Theater (1981-2006), chief director (2006-2012). Since 2012, he has been the director of the Baku Municipal Theater, and since 2018, he has been the chief director.
Honored Artist (1982), People's Artist (2000). Awarded the Order of "Glory" (2019).
