Ramil Alakbarov was born in Shamakhi.

He studied at the Faculty of Journalism of Ankara University, Radio, Television and Cinema (Turkey, 1997-2002), and at the Faculty of Journalism of Baku State University, where he received his master's degree.

He worked as a correspondent in the Azerbaijani bureau of AzSTV Samanyolu television (2003-2005), an editor at Public Television (2005-2021), a leading specialist in the Audiovisual and Interactive Media (Cinematography) Department of the Ministry of Culture (2021-2022), and as the head of the Marketing and Public Relations Department and press secretary at the "Azerbaijanfilm" film studio (2022-2024).

He was the program director of the Baku International Tourism Film Festival (2013-2017).

He participated in the documentary film master classes in the project “Baku from dawn to dusk” with the participation of Polish filmmakers and the news trainings of the “Euronews” channel (2014).

He was awarded the “Most Objective Journalist” (2004) at the “MOZALAN: Us and Time” Film Festival and the “Hasan bey Zardabi” Journalist of the Year honorary diploma and medal of the “Ekinchi” Journalist Society. He won the second prize in the nomination for the best journalistic work in the field of television of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism for the program “Kinozal” (producer and author, Khazar TV) (2009).

He worked as a scriptwriter, copywriter, director, second director, editor and producer in various social videos, commercials and corporate films, serials, television projects, animation, documentary and feature films.

Since 2024, he has been the editor of the “kinoinfo.az” film news website, director of “Kinobiz” LLC.

Since 2020, he has been engaged in pedagogical activities at the Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Arts.
