Samira Aliyeva was born in Baku.
She studied at the Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Art in the specialties of Mass Event Direction (1998-2002, Bachelor's Degree) and Cultural Studies (2002-2004, Master's Degree).
She has been engaged in ashug art since 1991.
She has been teaching ashug art at the Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Art since 2005. She has been the head of the Ashug Art Department since 2022.
She is a Doctor of Philosophy in Art History (2013), Associate Professor (2019), and Honored Worker of Culture (2014).
