Khamis Muradov (Khamiz Muradov / Khamiz Mughal) was born in the village of Mughal in Gakh. He studied at the Azerbaijan State Institute of Arts (1962-1966), and at the Directing Department of the Higher Directing and Scriptwriting Courses in Moscow (1969-1971).

Since 1966, he has worked at the “Azerbaijanfilm” film studio. He headed the “Salname” documentary film studio (1988-2001), the “Azerbaijanfilm” film studio (2002-2011).

He is the director of more than 70 documentaries. He has produced dozens of feature films.

He was awarded the Golden Lantern National Cinema Award in the nomination “Best Documentary” for the documentary film “9 Minutes” (2003).

He is an Honored Art Worker (2000), People's Artist (2005), State Prize (1988), and laureate of the “Humay” award.
