Kazan International Film Festival

The Kazan International Film Festival (KIFMC) was founded in 2005 as the Golden Pulpit International Muslim Film Festival. The first forum was organized at the initiative of the Council of Muftis of Russia, the Federal Agency for Culture and Cinematography of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Tatarstan with the support of the Head of the Republic of Tatarstan. The festival is held under the motto “From a dialogue of cultures to a culture of dialogue”.
After a disagreement between the festival directors based in Moscow and the organizers based in Kazan, the event was taken over by Kazan and since 2010 has been called the Kazan International Muslim Film Festival. The event is supported by the President of Tatarstan, the city of Kazan, the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Tatarstan and the Grand Mufti of Tatarstan.
