Ali Hagverdiyev was born in Baku.
He studied at the graphics department of the Azim Azimzade Art School (1955), the Baku Secondary Specialized Music School (1958), and the vocal faculty of the Azerbaijan State Conservatory (1961-1966).
During his studies at the Art School, his creative works were published in the magazines "Kirpi" and "Göyärçin". In 1962, he was accepted to the Opera and Ballet Theater. For a while, he interned at the Leningrad Maly Opera Theater. He sang the part of Soltan bey in the recording of the musical comedy "Arshin mal alan" on the gramophone record (1973). Along with working in the theater, he worked as a teacher at the vocal faculty of the Azerbaijan State Conservatory from 1981.
Honored Artist (1991) Ali Hagverdiyev died in 1992 as a result of being electrocuted.
