Alibaba Abdullayev was born in Baku.

As a child, he was a member of the dance group at the Ibrahim Abilov Cultural Center. He was a member of the Azerbaijan State Philharmonic Dance Ensemble (1936), the artistic director of the Song and Dance Ensemble (1941). He worked as a high-category actor at the Musical Comedy Theater (1946-1947). He was awarded the Gold Medal at the 6th World Festival of Students and Youth (1957, Moscow). The first choreography of the dances “Nalbeki” and “Vagzali” belongs to him. His choreography of the dance “Suleymani” in the film “Arshin Mal Alan” later became famous as a majestic bey air at folk festivals. Mashadi Ibad’s dance in the film “O olmasin, bu olsun” accurately characterizes his incomprehensible psychology, the character of a spoiled brat who is confident in his privileged position, and his desire to always be in the center of attention. “Where is Ahmed?” In the film, the enthusiastic dance of young Ahmed after reading a love letter to his beloved girl reflects the joy and turmoil of love of a person who wishes for wings to fly from happiness. The dance "Grape Harvest" taught by Aunt Nargiz to the girls shows the visual manifestation of Azerbaijan's natural resources against the backdrop of the harvest in a 2-3 minute artistic composition. He has choreographed more than 200 dances and has managed to endear the audience to the dance scenes in more than 10 films thanks to his interesting miens as a result of parallel work with the director.

He taught at the Azerbaijan State Institute of Arts and the Baku Choreography School.

Honored Artist (1943), People's Artist (1959) Alibaba Abdullayev died in 1980 and was buried in the Second Alley of Honor.
