Azad Zahid was born in Baku.
He studied at the Azerbaijan State Conservatory.
He worked as the chief sound director of the Heydar Aliyev Palace (1981-1993), deputy editor-in-chief at the Azerbaijani radio. He is the author of about 1,000 radio programs dedicated to Azerbaijani music on the Azerbaijani, French-International, Moscow and Dagestan radios (1993-2023).
