Azhdar Ol

Ajdar Ol (Azhdar Jabiyev) was born in the city of Gazimammad (now Hajigabul).
He studied at the Faculty of Azerbaijani Language and Literature of the Ganja State Pedagogical Institute (1975-1979), and at the Moscow State Social University, specializing in Law (1994-1999).
He began his career as a teacher, working as a teacher at the eight-year school in Aqiqishlag village of Lerik region (1979-1985), proofreader, junior editor at the "Ishiq" publishing house (1986-1988), deputy director at the Writers' Creativity House (1988-1990), deputy director at the Bureau for the Propagation of Fiction (1990-1992), consultant at the National Policy Department of the Office of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan (1992-1994), editor-in-chief at the "Shur" publishing house (1994), head of the Press Service and Protocol Department at the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Azerbaijan (1994-2002), director of the Personnel and Legal Department at the State Social Protection Fund of the Republic of Azerbaijan (2002-2004), head of the Office (2004-2013), and head of the Office of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Azerbaijan (2013-2018).
He began his artistic career in the 1980s. After his first poems were published in the magazine "Azerbaijan" (1981), he regularly appears in almanacs, magazines and newspapers with his poetic and journalistic works. He is the author of books, plays, scripts and translations. His plays have been staged. He was the author and host of the literary program "Gulustan" on Azerbaijani television (2000-2008). His books have been published abroad.
He was awarded the medal "For Distinction in Public Service" (2007), and in the field of literature, the International Book Prize of the "Ali and Nino" Book Publishing House (2010), "Golden Word" (2011), and the International Prize named after Mahmud Kashgari (2012).
