Gunel Najafzadeh was born in Baku.
She studied at the Baku Choreography School (2001), the Television Director's Department of the Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Art (2006), and the Rustam Ibrahimbeyov Baku International Film School.
She was awarded the "Youth Award" (2005) in the nomination "Best Director of the Year". She currently lives abroad.
Director Gunel Najafzadeh is the daughter of director and production designer Shamil Najafzadeh.
