Habil Aliyev was born in the village of Uchgovag in the Agdash region.
He studied at the Agdash music school No. 3, the pedagogical school, and the kamancha department of the Asef Zeynalli Secondary Specialized Music School (1952).
For a while, he worked at the Agdash State Drama Theater and played the kamancha. At the same time, he was a member of the dance club at the Agdash district pioneer house. He was the winner of the audition competition held in Baku in 1944. In 1953, he began his activities at the Azerbaijan State Philharmonic, first as an accompanist in the dance ensemble, and then as a kamancha player in the trio.
He gave new kamancha life to the mughams “Segah”, “Bayatı-Qajar”, “Bestenigar”, “Bayatı-Shiraz”, “Rahab”, “Bayatı-Kurd”, “Jahargah”, “Rast”, and “Zabul”. He is also a songwriter, more than 15 songs he composed are still performed today.
Laureate of the Orders of "Glory" (1997) and "Independence" (2007), Honored Artist (1964), People's Artist (1978) Habil Aliyev died in 2015 and was buried in the Alley of Honor.
