Ilgar Alfioghlu

lgar Alfioghlu (Ilgar Gasimov) was born in Baku.
He graduated from the Department of Persian Philology of the Faculty of Oriental Studies of Azerbaijan State University with a degree in Persian language translator (1972-1978).
Since 1978, he has worked as a correspondent, editor, senior editor, and announcer in the Foreign Broadcasting Department, News Service, South Azerbaijan Editorial Office, and Persian Language Broadcasting Editorial Office of Azerbaijan Radio (1978-1980). He worked as the head of the TV-performance department on television (1986-1987), host of the "Dalga" program (1987-1991), Head of News on BMTi TV, program host on ABA TV, educational director at the "Qafqaz Media Center", columnist at the "Bu Gun" newspaper, founder and editor-in-chief of the "Avtoritet" newspaper, program host on ABA TV, host on the "Azadlıq" television operating abroad, editor and head of the international relations department at the Azerbaijan State Translation Center (2014-2024).
Since 1976, he has been a translator in Iran and on official business missions in Afghanistan.
Since 2007, he has been working at the APA news agency, is the chairman of the Creative Council and program host of APA TV.
He is engaged in translation. He has novels, stories and short stories. More than 70 translated books and about 1,000 journalistic articles have been published.
Journalist and translator Ilgar Alfioghlu is the son of writer and publicist Alfi Gasimov.
