Rauf Atakishiyev was born in Goychay.
He studied at the Moscow State Conservatory (class of Konstantin Igumnov), took vocal lessons from Antonina Nejdanova.
He was a soloist of the Opera and Ballet Theater. He had a lyric-dramatic tenor voice and was also a pianist.
People's Artist (1967) Rauf Atakishiyev died in 1994.
