Sabir Mammadov was born in the village of Poylu, Gazakh.
He studied at the Drama and Film Acting Faculty of the Azerbaijan State Institute of Arts (1983).
He was assigned to the Sumgayit State Drama Theater. He has been working at the Academic National Drama Theater since 1989.
He is also engaged in dubbing and voice-over work.
He was awarded the “Jafar Jabbarli” (2002) and “Golden Dervish” (2010) awards.
He is an Honored Artist (2002), People's Artist (2018).
