Sidgi Ruhulla (Ruhulla Akhundov) was born in the village of Buzovna, Baku.

In his youth, he skillfully played the role of Sidgi in the drama "Vatan", so he adopted the nickname Sidgi on the advice of his friends. He began his stage career in 1908 with the role of Telli in the comedy "Adi var, uzu yokh" (Najaf bey Vezirov). He worked in the troupe of Huseyn Arablinski. He made special contributions to the development of the Tbilisi Azerbaijan Theater. He was the organizer of the first theater performances in the cities of Rasht and Qazvin, and the founder of the national theater in Tabriz. In 1916, he staged the operas "Leyli and Majnun" and "Asli and Kerem" in Tashkent. From 1924 until the end of his life, he worked at the Azerbaijan State Drama Theater. The role of Gajar in the play "Vagif" by Samad Vurgu is considered the pinnacle of his creativity.

Honored Artist (1931), People's Artist (1938), laureate of the USSR State Prize (1948), People's Artist of the USSR (1949) Sidgi Ruhulla died in 1959 and was buried in the Alley of Honor.
