Afag Abdulgizi (Afaq Gambarova) was born in Baku.
She studied at the Department of History and Oriental Studies of the Faculty of History of Baku State University (1995).
She worked at the Department of Medieval History of the Institute of History of ANAS. Her scientific articles on the Safavid period have been published, and she has given reports at international conferences. Her articles, stories and fiction have been published in periodicals. She has collaborated with various television stations for many years. She worked as an editor, author and presenter on Lider TV. She worked as a journalist at the newspaper "Society and Religion", the press organ of the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations (2010-2014).
Since 2014, she has been the Public Relations and Media Coordinator at Khazar University's WORLD School.
