Aftandil Israfilov was born in Baku.

In 1961, he was admitted to the Civil Engineering Faculty of the Azerbaijan Polytechnic Institute. Due to his interest in the accordion, he left his studies and devoted his life to music.

He created an ensemble as part of “Azkonsert” and carried out its artistic direction. After a tour in Turkey with Zeynab Khanlarova in 1970, he performed in a series of concerts around the world as part of her ensemble to promote Azerbaijani music. He is the author of about 100 musical compositions such as “Zemfira”, “Kemale”, “Nazile”, “Aynure”, “Jale”, “Basgali”. People's Artist (1998).

People's Artist of the Republic of Dagestan (2008), laureate of the “Shohrat” Order (2016) Aftandil Israfilov died in 2023 and was buried in the Second Alley of Honor.
