Aghajavad Alizadeh was born in Salyan.

He studied at the Workers' Youth Secondary School No. 40 and the Philology Faculty of Azerbaijan State University (1953-1958).

He began his career as a librarian at the Salyan Central Library (1942-1944). He worked as an actor and deputy director at the Salyan State Drama Theater (1944-1948), head of the pioneer group at the Salyan district orphanage No. 2, literary commissioner and director at the radio station (1948-1949), librarian, instructor at the culture house, director of the pioneer and schoolchildren's house, executive secretary at the editorial office of the "Galabeh" newspaper, executive secretary at the editorial office of the "Lenin tserbisi sabqar" multi-circulation newspaper, deputy executive secretary and translator at the editorial office of the "Baku" evening newspaper (1958-1960), literary worker, head of the criticism and bibliography department, executive secretary at the editorial office of the "Azerbaijan" magazine, executive secretary at the editorial office of the "Literature and Art" newspaper (1960-1976), and senior editor at the "Yazichi" publishing house (1978-1987). His first published poem, "May 9," was published in Salyan's "Sosializm yolu" newspaper in 1946. He regularly appeared in periodicals. He was also consistently engaged in essays, journalism, and literary translation. Songs were composed to his words. As a master of artistic recitation, he was a laureate of festivals many times. He headed a number of literary circles (1950-1987). He was the chairman of the local committee of the Azerbaijan Writers' Union (1962-1975).

Aghajavad Alizadeh died in 1995.
