Agil Abbas

Agil Abbas (Agil Abbasov) was born in the village of Kolali in Agjabadi. He moved to Agdam with his family when he was 2 years old.
He studied at the Philology Faculty of Azerbaijan State University (1970-1976).
He began his professional career as a teacher at Agsu boarding school (1976-1977). He was a photojournalist and department head at the magazine "Elm və hayat" (1977-1987), a special correspondent for the newspaper "Sovet kəndi" (1987-1990), and editor-in-chief of the newspapers "Ādalat" (since 1990) and "Boz kurd" (since 1993). Although he began his artistic career in 1970, his first printed story "Şirinlik" (Sweetness) was published in the newspaper "Ādəbiyyat və kultur" (Literature and Art) in 1976. He has been awarded the "Golden Pen" (1993), "Mammad Araz" (1994), "Dan Ulduzu" (1993), "Yaddash" and "Zeynalabdin Tagiyev" awards, and the "Shohrat" order (2013).
He has been a deputy of the Milli Majlis since 2005 and an Honored Journalist (2005).
