Akif Yusifov was born in the village of Almali, Gakh region.

He studied at the Faculty of Drama and Film Acting of the Azerbaijan State Institute of Arts (1972-1976).

He worked as an assistant director at the “Azerbaijanfilm” film studio (1976-1977). Since 1977, he has been an actor at the Sheki State Drama Theater. His first role on the professional stage was the role of the captain in the tragedy “King Lear” (Shakespeare).

He received the “Golden Dervish” award for the role of the editor in the play “Do not condemn me” (Hidayat Orujov) (2001).

He is an Honored Artist (2018).
