Ali Karim (Ali Karimov) was born in Goychay.

In 1948, he entered the Philology Faculty of Azerbaijan State University, but since there was no dormitory there, he transferred to the Theater Studies Faculty of the Azerbaijan Theater Institute. From the third year, he continued his education at the Maxim Gorky Institute of World Literature in Moscow, where he graduated with honors in 1955.

He worked in the editorial office of the magazine "Azerbaijan" and was the head of the poetry department.

His first published work was the poem "Taze muallim" (Fresh Teacher), which appeared in the newspaper "Azerbaijan Pioneri" (1948).

His poem "First Symphony" was awarded a prize at the VI World Festival (1957, Moscow / Russia).

Ali Karim died in 1969 and was buried in Goychay.
