Alina Abdullayeva

Alina Abdullayeva was born in Dnepropetrovsk, Ukraine.

After graduating from high school (1998), she moved to Baku and studied at the Faculty of Literary Creativity and Screen Dramaturgy of the Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Arts.

Her short stories and novels were published in local media (1999-2002). In parallel, she worked as a photographer. After entering the master's degree, she became interested in directing. After participating in the professional training in the field of cinema - the AVANTI program (2004), funded by the Swiss Development Agency, she won a grant to realize a short film project as a director. She took a course at FOCAL. She worked as a producer at Veit Helmer Filmproduktion.

She is the founder of the film company Motor and also a co-founder of the Independent Caucasian Cinematographers Association.

She worked as the first assistant director on the German film Absurdistan (2008).

In 2014, she moved to Sweden and lives in Stockholm.
