Almaz Asgarova (Almaz Suleymanova) was born in Baku.

Azim dropped out of the Azimzadeh Art School and was admitted to the History Faculty of Azerbaijan State University. Here she met Azer Suleymanov, who had graduated from film directing in Moscow and returned to Baku. Azer advised Almaz to become an actress. Almaz and Azer, who had enrolled in Adil Isgandarov's course, began a short but joint life. Her master Adil Isgandarov was preparing her for the role of Khuraman in his film "Vagif". The master's death prevented this idea from coming to fruition. Almaz Asgarova starred in the Tajik film "Rustam and Sohrab" (1976, directed by Bension Kimyagerov) as the Tsaritsa. Azer went to Moscow for work and returned in a coffin. From that day on, Almaz separated from her friends, relatives, and beloved person, as well as from her beloved art, and withdrew into her inner world. Almaz Askerova, who suffered from a cruel illness within 11 months, closed her eyes to the world forever in the scorching August of 1988.
