Asgar Asgarov was born in Nakhchivan.
He studied at the Drama and Film Acting Faculty of the Azerbaijan State Institute of Arts (1979-1983). He underwent a three-month internship with A. Goncharov, the chief director of the Mayakovsky Academic Drama Theater in Moscow (1988-1989).
He worked as a director at the State Television and Radio Committee of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic (1986), assistant director at the Nakhchivan Theater (1987), chief director (1989), director at the Academic National Drama Theater (1996-2001), and production director (2001). He is currently the director of the Musical Theater.
He is an Honored Artist.
