Aydin Azimov

Aydin Azimov (Aydin Azim Kerimoghlu / Aydin Azimzadeh) was born in the village of Amirjan in Baku.
He studied at the Theory Department of the Asef Zeynalli Secondary Specialized Music School (1960-1964), and at the Composition Faculty of the Azerbaijan State Conservatory (1964-1972, in Gara Garayev's class).
He worked at the Azerbaijan State Television and Radio Committee, serving as a junior editor, senior editor, department head in the Main Editorial Office of the Radio's Music Programs, sound director, chief director at the Radio's Recording House, head of the Artistic Teams and Recording House of the Azerbaijan Television and Radio Committee, and chief consultant of the "Azerbaijantelefilm" Creative Union (1968-1996).
In 1996-2005, he worked at the State Conservatory of Mersin University of the Republic of Turkey, organizing the Composition Faculty.
Since 2005, he has been working as a professor at the Composition Department of the Baku Academy of Music. He is an active employee of the scientific laboratory of the Academy of Music, conducts scientific research on religious music, ashug music and mugham, and is the author of many books and articles on this subject.
He restored the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan by Uzeyir Hajibeyov. He is the author of symphonic works, chamber music, theater and film music, songs and romances. He wrote the work “Sonata-poema” for violin and piano, consisting of violin works by Azerbaijani composers, and it is included in the curriculum of music and art schools.
He is currently the head of the composition department of the Baku Academy of Music.
