Aziza Ahmadova (Aziza Turkan) was born in Baku.
She studied journalism at the Pedagogical Technical School (1951) and Azerbaijan State University.
She began her career at the “Children and Youth” publishing house. For a while, she worked as a senior editor at the Azerbaijani Encyclopedia. She was the director of the “Ganjlik” publishing house (1967-1987). Her first story, “The Mistake of the Fearless,” was published in the “Pioner” magazine (1957). Her works include “Khinalı Kayalar,” “Yaz Garı,” “Onu çılçerler sevdi,” “Bu ellera vurlüsham,” “Bir üreç sindığım,” and “İçeğlerim.” Her book “The Adventures of Carlson on the Roof and the Chimney-Living Housekeeper” (1985) caused a great resonance. As a translator, she translated dozens of works.
Aziza Ahmadova, a doctor of philological sciences, died in 2003.
