Fikret Asgarov (Fikret Haji Abrek) was born in Ganja.

He studied at the Azerbaijan State Institute of Physical Education (1964), the Cinematography Department of the All-Union State Institute of Cinematography (1972, Boris Volchek's workshop).

He was the head of the Amateur Film Studio under the Baku Officers' House (1965-1966). Since 1959, he has worked at the "Azerbaijanfilm" film studio. In addition to being a cameraman in films, he also worked as an artist and photographer.

Honored Artist Fikret Asgarov died in 2013.
