Gamar Almaszadeh was born in Baku.
Secretly from her father, she studied at the "Sergey Gevorkov Ballet Studio" (now the Choreography School, 1930) under the Azerbaijan State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater, and began working at the Azerbaijan State Opera and Ballet Theater. Here she worked as a ballerina, chief ballet master (1953-1972), artistic director of the ballet troupe (1972-1988), and production ballet master.
She first appeared on stage in 1931 with the role of Tao Khoa in the ballet "The Red Tulip" (Reynolds Glier). After gaining some experience, she went to Russia and studied at the Leningrad Choreography School (1933-1936, class of Maria Romanova).
In 1937, she founded the Azerbaijan State Song and Dance Ensemble under the Azerbaijan State Philharmonic.
Under the leadership of Uzeyir Hajibeyov, he organized a scientific trip to the provinces of Azerbaijan and collected information about folk dances from primary sources.
In 1939, he gave his first dance lesson at the Baku Choreographic School. Later, he became the director of that school.
In 1940, he made his first professional appearance in Afrasiyab Badalbeyli's ballet "Maiden's Tower". In 1959, he became the ballet master of the new - second production of "Maiden's Tower".
In 1970, he was invited to establish the Iraqi Folk Dance Ensemble in Baghdad.
People's Artist of the USSR (1959), Honored Artist (1940), People's Artist (1943) Gamar Almaszadeh died in 2006 and was buried in the Alley of Honor.
Ballet master, dancer Gamar Almaszadeh was the wife of composer Afrasiyab Badalbeyli.
