Gulkhar Hasanova was born in the village of Bayramli, Shamkir.
She studied at the Baku Theater Technical School (1935-1937), Azerbaijan State University (1959).
She worked as an actress at the Young Spectators Theater (1936-1942), a soloist at the Opera and Ballet Theater (1942-1980) and a coach-pedagogue (since 1980). The peak of her creativity is the roles of Arabzangi in Muslim Magomayev's opera "Shah Ismail" and Leyli, Leyli's mother in Uzeyir Hajibeyov's opera "Leyli and Majnun".
Honored Artist (1955), People's Artist (1982), laureate of the "Shohrat" Order (1998) Gulkhar Hasanova died in 2005 and was buried in the II Alley of Honor.
