Huseynagha Atakishiyev was born in Baku.
He studied at the Azerbaijan State Institute of Arts (1975).
For a while he worked as an actor at the Sheki State Theater. A year later he began working as a chief director at the theater. His first directorial work at this theater, the play "Haji Gara", brought him success. He was also the first director to stage the play "The Ring of Luck" (Vagif Samadoglu). Since 1985, he has been directing plays at the Academic National Drama Theater. In 1989, he founded the Youth Theater and was its artistic director and director until his death. In 1995, he staged the musical comedy "Arshin Mal Alan" in Istanbul. As a director, he directed more than 150 plays and played more than 50 roles as an actor.
