Jabbar Garyaghdioghlu was born in the Seyidli neighborhood of Shusha.
He studied at the school of Kharrat Gulu.
He gained fame by performing mugham, dastgah, tasnif, and folk songs at folk festivals. He masterfully performed the mughams “Kurd-Shahnaz”, “Mahur”, “Bayat-Qajar”, “Heyrat”, “Segah”, “Ovshari”, and “Mansuriye”. He recorded “Heyrat” on a gramophone record in Warsaw in 1906.
He was one of the first organizers of the Conservatory, where he taught classical folk music. Khan Shushinsky, Seyid Shushinsky, Bulbul, Davud Safiyarov, Zulfu Adigozalov, Yaver Kalentarli, and other famous artists were his students.
He composed more than 30 songs to his own poems, ghazals, and additions, as well as to the words of poets.
