Jahangir Mammadli

Jahangir Mammadli was born in the Novruzlu village of Aghdam.
He studied at the Journalism Department of the Philology Faculty of Azerbaijan State University (1964-1968).
He defended his candidacy dissertations on the topic “Press Style of the Modern Azerbaijani Literary Language” (1973) and his doctoral dissertations on the topic “Modern Development Trends of Journalism in Azerbaijan” (2008). Since 1973, he has been engaged in scientific and pedagogical activity at the Department of History of the Press and Ideological Work Methods (now History of the National Press) of AUL, and has worked as the head of that department (1993-2005) and the head of the Department of Theory and Practice of Journalism (now Theory of New Media and Communication) (2005-2021). For a while, he was the Deputy Chairman of the Azerbaijan Press Council (2003-2005), and the Chairman of the Broadcasting Council of the Public Television and Radio Broadcasting Company (2005). He has published more than 500 scientific and journalistic articles. He is the author of 15 books on literary criticism and journalism. He is a Doctor of Philology, Professor. He was awarded the "Zardabi" Prize (2003), the "Ali Media" Prize (2012), and the "Shohrat" Order (2019).
