Jamil Amirov

Jamil Amirov was born in Baku.
He studied in the piano class of the Bulbul Secondary Specialized Music School (1965-1975), the Composition Faculty of the Azerbaijan State Conservatory (now the Azerbaijan State Conservatory) (1975-1980, class of Jovdat Hajiyev), and postgraduate studies (1980-1982).
He was a member of the Azerbaijan State Chamber Orchestra (1978–1983), head of the “Gobustan” Variety-Folklore Ensemble of the Azerbaijan Television and Radio Committee (1983−1985), soloist of the ensemble led by Rafig Babayev of the Azerbaijan State Television and Radio Committee (1985–1989, 1990−1991), music director of the Azerbaijan State Mugham Theater (1989−1990), soloist of the piano and harpsichord instrument of the Azerbaijan State Chamber Orchestra, music director of the “Gaya” State Variety-Symphonic Orchestra (1991−1992), head of the Jazz Club of the Baku City Department of Culture (1992), and member of the “Jangi” ensemble led by Rafig Babayev (1992-1995). Since 2009, he has been a senior research worker at the Scientific Research Laboratory of the Baku Academy of Music. He has participated in various international music festivals. He has written instrumental music and songs for films, plays, and ensembles of various compositions. He has published articles on the lives and works of Fikret Amirov and Jovdat Hajiyev. He is the author of the anthology “Fikret Amirov - Pages of Life” published by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and his works.
