Jannat Salimova

Jannat Salimova (Janetta Salimova) was born in Baku.
She studied at the Philology Faculty of Azerbaijan State University (1957-1962), and at the Drama Directing Faculty of the Leningrad State Institute of Theater, Music and Cinematography (1962-1967).
She worked as a director (1967-1982) and chief director (1982-1991) at the Azerbaijan State Russian Drama Theater. She was the founder and artistic director of the Chamber Theater in Azerbaijan. She directed performances at the Musical Comedy Theater and the Azerbaijan State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater. Since 2006, she has been accepted as an acting director at the Opera and Ballet Theater. In 2009-2012, she worked as the chief director of the Azerbaijan State Theater of Young Spectators. She currently serves as a director at this theater.
She is a professor at the Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Arts.
Honored Artist (1978), People's Artist (1998) Jannat Salimova was awarded the Orders of "Shohrat" (2000) and "Sharaf" (2020).
