Leyla Badirbayli (Leyla Javanshirova) was born in Baku.
She appeared on stage as a young woman. She worked as a soloist of the Azerbaijan State Philharmonic Song and Dance Ensemble (1936-1942). In 1945, she was selected for the role of Gulchohra in the film “Arshin Mal Alan” from more than 100 candidates at the invitation and initiative of Uzeyir bey. Later, she studied at the Azerbaijan State Theater Institute, at the Faculty of Acting, headed by Adil Isgandarov (1948-1952). She worked at the Academic National Drama Theater (1942-1975) and at the “Azerbaijanfilm” film studio (1975-1994).
Honored Artist (1949), People's Artist (1959), laureate of the USSR (1946) and Azerbaijan (1972) State Prizes, and the Order of "Independence" (1999), Leyla Badirbeyli died in 1999 and was buried in the Alley of Honor.
