Leyla Shikhlinskaya

Leyla Shikhlinskaya (Leyla Sadikhova) was born in Moscow.
She studied at the choreography school, the theater studies faculty of GITIS.
She worked as a ballerina on the stage of the Azerbaijan State Opera and Ballet Theater, as a ballet master of the “Diaghilev-ballet” troupe (1990-1992). As a teacher and choreographer, she worked with the USSR Olympic gymnastics teams. For many years, she taught at the choreography school of the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow. She is the author of more than 100 scientific articles on the history and development of Azerbaijani choreography and ballet art. Since 1992, she has been the artistic director of the “Sheyla” experimental ballet creative center in Moscow, which she organized. She played the role of Madame de Fervak in the Russian-made TV series “Red and Black” (1976, directed by Sergey Gerasimov).
