Leyla Vazirzadeh

Leyla Vazirzadeh (Leyla Shabanova) was born in Baku.

She studied at the Bulbul Secondary Specialized Music School (1979), and at the Theater Studies Faculty of the Azerbaijan State Institute of Arts (1979-1984).

In 1984, she began her career at the Azerbaijan State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company, where she worked as a freelance correspondent, assistant director, editor at the Azerbaijantelefilm Creative Union, editor at the “Khazar” studio under the Baku Advertising and Design Department, head of creative sections at the Azerbaijan Cinematographers Union (1995-2009), leading consultant at the Cinema Department of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and executive producer at the “ANS” Independent Broadcasting and Media Company.

Since 2009, she has been the editor-in-chief of the Azerbaijan State Film Fund. She is the editor of many film publications prepared by the Film Fund.

She was awarded the “Teraggi” medal (2016).
