Magsad Nur (Maqsad Sariyev) was born in the village of Zulfugarli, Kalbajar.
In 1988, he began his professional activity in the newspaper "Mingachevir ishiglari" in Mingachevir. For a while (1989-1993), he worked as a military reporter and photojournalist in various newspapers. During these years, he became known for his reports, interviews and photographs from the hot events taking place in the Caucasus, Russia and Azerbaijan. He was the founder and editor-in-chief of the weekly newspaper "Press-fakt" (1993-1998). He worked in leadership positions at Lider TV, ATV and Azerbaijan Television. In 1993, together with Tehran Alishanoghlu, he founded the "YeniSi" literary and cultural center and the first native literature website in Azerbaijan (www.yenisi.net). His books have been published. His works have been published in foreign countries. Due to the recognition of his works on the Internet resource and the accumulation of a large readership, he was elected an honorary editor of the Russian website lib.ru, and was able to advance to the 3rd place in the rating table of the portal litsovet.ru. In 2006, he achieved 7th place in the "super ten" competition of this website. The novel "City Mayor" (2011) is the winner of the National Book Award (2011).
